Dermatographia and CBD Skincare
“Okay, so we need milk, eggs… Can you pass me a pen and paper so I can write this down?”
“Oh, no need, just write it on my skin!” I blurt out, often followed up with a reaction along the lines of major confusion.
Write On Me
I have a form of dermatitis, dermatographic urticaria, or dermatographia – better known as “skin writing”. Dermatographia is a rare skin condition that affects about 2 to 5 percent of the population. My skin reacts as if having an allergic reaction; mast cells release histamine when my skin is scratched/rubbed lightly or there is applied pressure. The cause is unknown.
For quite a few years, I would have strange marks and raised scratches on my skin, not knowing at all what it may be, until I randomly stumbled upon an Instagram post a girl had posted of her thighs and a typical allergic reaction. My instant thought was, “that happens to me!”
Trial and Error
Not long after being diagnosed with dermatographia, I was prescribed various creams and solvents, all priced in the triple digits, and saw no results. In fact, they only aggravated my skin more by drying out my skin and taking away all the oils my body was naturally producing. I was burning my skin with solvents. On top of that, my skin was absorbing all the chemicals in these lab-made creams. I was stuck in a toxic circle of moisturizing without ever really being moisturized.
Natural CBD Topicals with Essential Oils
It took a while to realize that I needed to find a different way to help my skin. I’d been smoking cannabis medicinally for years, yet neglecting the benefits CBD and THC infused topicals bring.
CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of the main cannabinoids in cannabis plants. It provides a dynamic avenue of healing physical ailments such as skin flaws/irritation, inflammation like arthritis, blemishes, etc.
I like to choose a product that binds CBD naturally with other essential oils like jojoba oil and coconut oil. Jojoba is a natural moisturizer, an antibacterial and most importantly for me, it’s noncomedogenic. Although jojoba oil is a botanical substance, its makeup is so similar to the oil (sebum) your body naturally produces that your skin can’t tell the difference. This makes it less likely to build up on the skin and clog pores, leading to fewer triggers and irritation.
Dermatographia and CBD – Extra Strength
The biggest organ on your body is your skin.
Your skin is like a sponge and one of the fastest ways to get anything into your system. It’s important to take care of your skin and provide it with extra strength where possible. For this, I turn to Miss Envy Botanicals and their Buddha Buddha Extra Strength Cream, 300mg of THC and CBD, a uniquely formulated 1:1 body cream in a 30ml jar of heaven.
It’s important to note that when using topicals infused with THC, the cerebral psychoactive effect you can expect to experience will be very low. Most of the benefits you reap will be derived from CBD.
A Better Life with CBD
CBD is a product that requires long term consistency to reap its full benefits, but I promise it is a lifestyle change for the better. For my dermatographia, CBD skincare has made all the difference.
Miss Envy has all the best products for your constantly changing schedule, for the dynamic individual you are, for the ever-changing obstacles you face. Wear those shorts, wear the crop top, wear that two-piece bikini because you can count on Miss Envy to always deliver quality consistency.
