Women in Cannabis
420 Diva is a cannabis content creator who has become somewhat of an influencer on Instagram over the last couple of years since the legalization of cannabis in Canada. We spoke to her about her experience as both a cannabis consumer as well as a female-identified content creator.
As a video content creator Diva has shared these amazing video snippets that share some of her experience as a cannabis user, a cannabis influencer, and now a cannabis grower. Take a few minutes to listen and follow Diva on Instagram.
Diva’s Personal Cannabis Journey
Started regularly consuming cannabis in her late teen years as a result of dealing with many things in her life. Even back then she found that cannabis was healing and through her use, she was able to heal parts of herself she felt were broken. Her use has morphed and evolved over time, but she continues to use cannabis for therapeutic purposes.
She continually finds new uses for cannabis. Diva has arthritis and not only does she use cannabis for managing the symptoms but also to address the challenging mental aspects associated with the stigma she experiences being a younger person diagnosed with arthritis. The beauty of cannabis though is the numerous ways it can be involved in our health and wellness routine.
Diva’s Regular Cannabis Routine
Diva uses cannabis every day, which always includes consuming indicas before bed. She also includes other aspects of cannabis in her day-to-day routine including pain management with CBD, edibles, baths, etc. Recently she has started introducing CBD into her routine more often, typically in 1:1 THC CBD products such as tinctures.
Diva also loves cannabis beverages as it’s a fun and easy way of consuming cannabis and it provides a different experience than typical edibles.

She has also recently brought cannabis into the bedroom with THC lube and is excited about it.

Diva’s Role in the Cannabis Industry – Women in Cannabis
Diva is a cannabis content creator whose goal is to reduce stigma around cannabis use and helping to facilitate people using cannabis in a manner that is comfortable for them.
Unfortunately, being a female in the cannabis industry has been a ‘fun’ ride for Diva (and many other women in the cannabis industry), as it is common to be sexualized and to not be taken seriously by other members of the community. That being said women are making leaps and bounds in the industry.
The cannabis growing industry is still very male-dominated and in the future Diva hopes to continue to work toward breaking the stigma associated with women working and growing in the cannabis industry.
The biggest way we can overcome this stigma is to stick together and build one another up rather than tearing each other down.
Experience as a Cannabis Influencer
Diva doesn’t necessarily identify with the term influencer because she doesn’t feel as though she truly influences anybody to do anything, be anything or purchase anything. She shares her story and then people can make their own informed decisions.
The only thing she wants to do is influence people to laugh and smile more and ‘smoke a joint while doing it’.
Her journey as an ‘influencer’ has changed over time, particularly post-legalization. But unfortunately not all social media platforms are supportive of cannabis users talking about their experiences publicly and Diva, like many other cannabis influencers, has lost Instagram accounts as a result. Some are working toward building cannabis-specific social media to avoid this stigma and bring cannabis users together.
Growing Cannabis
The pandemic led to Diva finally committing to growing cannabis even though she had been thinking about it for years.
The process of growing cannabis has taught her patience and perseverance and was a good reminder that ‘good things don’t always come easily’. But the entire process of growing cannabis is therapeutic independent of the cannabis she is able to consume at the end of the process.
Final Thoughts
Being a female in a male-dominated industry isn’t easy but people like Diva are making a difference. We appreciate her honesty and vulnerability in sharing her story and her experience as she too continues to learn about cannabis. She also has a positive outlook that we value. It’s important to remember to take a moment to smile and focus on the positive things in our lives – even if it feels like there are few of them.
